How to keep a saint bernard cool in the heat?

my saint bernard is miserable all summer long, she just spends her time panting and trying to survive the heat. I cant let her get in the pool very much because it caused her to develop ear infections from the water getting in her ears and we do not have air conditioning. We were going to shave her, but heard it is a really bad idea. Does anybody have some ideas or tips on what we could do to help keep her cool???
