How to choose a bmx helmet?

now im very familiar with skiing and snowboarding helmets, and i know how a helmet should fit. what i want to know is, why buy a 150 dollar helmet vs a 80 dollar? what do i get out of it? i know the foam that will protect me is the same, but what features make a helmet better?
