Historically speaking, did the apostle paul believe Jesus was divine?

I am an ex-Christian who likes to study the bible from a historical perspective. I find it wonderful to study it that way becuase one can actually better understand what he or she is reading. Although Christians would disagree with me and say that if I dont have a relationship with Jesus do to some supernatural encounter or revalation grounded in faith. I have not understood anything at all. I completely disagree with that. Anyway although Christian theology holds that Paul indeed believed Jesus to be God. I would like to know what the historical saint paul thought of Jesus. Any bible skeptics and scholars out there that can answer my question?
