Good time to buy a snowboard?

Hey everyone I've been snowboarding for about 6 years and I think it's time to get a new board. I'll be going out to Colorado for college this fall in mid-August so I'm not sure when I should buy a board. I've heard that mountains have good deals around this time and mid-summer but also that august is a good time because they're dumping all last year's gear. What do you think? Also, I have size 12.5 feet and in looking for a new board I'm not sure if I should go wide or not, my current board was a normal width one but I threw some risers on it so my feet were higher off the ground and there were no carving issues. I just really don't want a giant wide board that can't turn haha. Thanks again everyone!
